How JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC works

A hyaluronic acid gel injection (compatible with the human body as it’s naturally found in almost every single living thing,) acts like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity due to normal aging. It also brings water to the surface of skin to keep it looking fresh and supple. JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC contains VYCROSS® technology which blends different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid which contributes to the gel’s long duration. In addition, JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC has been customized with a lower HA concentration (15 mg/mL), so less recovery time and discomfort while still providing the long-lasting results.

What to expect

Before beginning treatment, we will examine the lip area to determine if JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is right for you. Then we will tailor a treatment designed for your aesthetic goals. The treatment consists of several small injections and is complete in 10-15 minutes. You will likely experience some tenderness, swelling, bruising, or itching for 2-4 weeks.

Possible side effects

The most common side effects include tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching. Most side effects were mild or moderate and lasted 30 days or less.. One of the risks with using this product is unintentional injection into a blood vessel, and while rare, the complications can be serious. These complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or scarring. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
